This is the entrance to Maryhill Museum in the Gorge built by Sam Hill, located at 35 Maryhill Museum Drive, Goldendale, WA 98620.
Maryhill Museum of Art was dedicated in 1926 by Queen Marie of Romania and opened to the public in 1940; it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
Sam Hill (1857–1931), founder of the Maryhill Museum of Art, was one of the most colorful and influential figures in the Pacific Northwest in the early 1900s. He was a successful businessman, world traveler, builder of monuments, and early advocate of paved roads.
Hill commissioned the Maryhill Stonehenge Memorial to honor World War I dead from Klickitat County, Washington. The monument was dedicated in 1918—while the war was still rampant—and completed in 1929. He was also responsible for the construction of the Peace Arch in Blaine, Washington—recognizing the close ties between the United States and Canada. It was dedicated in 1921.

Since I was a very young boy on the farm, 6 or 7, I have been shooting everything in my line of sight. In those early days I found that anything could inspire me. Grasshoppers and Gartner snakes to coyotes and eagles, as well a rows of crops we grew. Eventually I was given a Kodak Brownie, just to prevent me from using my Mother's KodakBrownie out in the fields. I was thrilled. Since then I have gone through many styles of shooting and editing. Eventually I have settled on two distinct presentations, described below.
